The next stop on our little tour around the Sea-Tac area was Point Defiance Park, which occupies a very cool little peninsula. At over 700 acres, with trails and a zoo, this is an amazing thing to have in your backyard!

We did some driving around, but a few places were closed for a wedding. We stopped at the shoreline at the rock beach.

Lots of boats and fisherman out enjoying a fairly temperate Saturday morning.

The trees and forests in this area were stunning- giant, beautiful trees made for walking through and breathing the fresh air.

It was a wee bit chilly without any sunshine, but it was neat walking along the shoreline and checking out all the neighborhoods across the water.

There were lots of great things to see and do in the park, but I loved this jogging trail (and the many others through the woods) because it had some cool art (poetry) stamped into concrete.

In my time around Sea-Tac, I was amazed at all the water- inlets, bays, shorelines and more. So many people had the opportunity to leave close to the water and have great views.

The other thing that was terribly surprising about the area is the lack of bridges. With all the water, I assumed there would be many bridges to cross it all. Apparently, it’s much cheaper and easier to ferry around. There are dozens of ferries and it’s the primary form of crossing the water for most people. We did cross 1 bridge- the famous Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The original bridge collapsed due to a strong wind that excited it’s natural resonant frequency- cool stuff for this engineer!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Out of class today at 4PM & did a 4 mile jog….now to get caught up on blogging tonight.

So my dad lives right next to the bridge-you saw his view every day! Did you run across the bridge? There is a little sidewalk and it’s actually really fun. You feel like Rocky.
