Tacoma Glass Museum

Just across the road from the University area is the Museum of Glass, housed in a very cool building.

To get there, you must cross a pedestrian bridge across the highway and go past 2 giant blue sculptures that reminded me of rock candy.

Through that tunnel, you pass under some stunning art art that reminds me of being underwater and surrounded by colorful jellyfish.

Then you pass a giant wall that houses an amazing collection of blown glass art pieces.  Some of them were just gorgeous!

The museum sits across from a little marina and harbor area which just adds to the cool factor.

Another fun, funky old building that has been renovated and provides an ultra-neat reflection of the honeycomb cone shaped museum.

Down by the water there are a few interesting glass and water sculptures.  The picture doesn’t show too well, but there were streams of water running down each of the cylinders.

Wet.  That’s how I’ll remember my time in the PacNW.  I’d been sworn to that it wasn’t nearly as bad as Seattle, but my few days in Tacoma were cloudy & damp.

Another neat, and very large, sculpture that was displayed in it’s own pond.  Seems like it should have a fountain or a flowing element, but it wasn’t on when I was there.

We didn’t actually go into the museum, but it looked like they had some cool stuff.  They had a live feed on those TV’s of a guy blowing glass & you could go watch him create stunning pieces.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY:  15 mile training run done & I’m ready to relax for the weekend!
