Downtown Tacoma

My Saturday in Washington State involved a mini-tour around the area.  I’d been to Seattle previously for work, so we headed to downtown Tacoma & some of the surrounding areas.  This isn’t technically downtown, but in a cool area that has recently been revitalized since the University was opened here in 1990.  They are taking many of the old warehouse buildings & converting them to classrooms and areas for businesses that serve the students.

This part of the area sits up on a hill & through this beautiful building you have a view of the bay down below.  I really wished I’d been there on a gorgeous clear day & able to see Mount Rainier from all over the city.

The Washington State History Museum would be a neat way to spend a rainy day like this one.

The Tacoma Union Station is another cool old building that has been renovated and is now a federal court house.

The back is even  more beautiful!  Those things floating in the window- they are glass sculptures!  Wait till you see all the beautiful glass around here…

This is our shot from the glass bridge & that in the distance is the actual downtown Tacoma area.   Those buildings on the right are all brand new apartments (condos??) that are being built right on the water front.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Back to Sugar Pie dinners tonight after a break for the summer.

I love your photography. We’re in the NW and you really nailed these pictures of Tacoma and too bad you didn’t see majestic Mt. Rainer, but now you get a taste of what we have to live with! “Arggghhhh there is a huge mountain right over there and I can’t see it cause of these dumb clouds”

all the best and keep up the good work
