Riverfront Park Spokane

I’ve been to Spokane a few times for work & really enjoy the city.   The Spokane River runs right through downtown & the island in the center of the river forms Riverfront Park, which is surrounded by several big, beautiful waterfalls.

I got lucky with a upper-level hotel room at the Doubletree & enjoyed views of the river & the park, even through the rain.

The 55 degree weather & the light rain made for a wonderful run the next morning. I grabbed my camera and headed out to explore the waterfalls while exercising.   This upper dam hold back some water and forms a little like-like area above it.

The park contains an IMAX & several family attractions in the center island.

The carousel wasn’t open this early in the morning, but it seemed like another neat attraction for the area.

Lots of interesting and unique art and sculptures around the area like this water fountain.

There was a very cool series of bridge & waterfalls, where I ran back and forth like a mad-woman across each bridge checking out the rocks &

I love old brick buildings- they seem to have to much character & I wonder about all the stories they hold inside.

More super-awesome art, a series of metal runners is fun and inspiring.

Gotta love the hippy northwest & their electric car re-charging stations.

Fairly typical- lots of geese.  Did you know they will hiss at you?  Yea, I learned that….

More fabulous art.  Nothing like a 20′ tall radio flyer wagon that’s a slide.  I was tempted to climb up it, but was running late on my jog.

I’m sure the ducks were enjoying the love river sculpture.

Finally, a little floating dock & theater area on the riverbank.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: H’s busy season is officially underway again this year….let the late nights begin.

Spokane! My state! I love Spokane and you did a great job capturing it. They used to call Spokane “SpoCompton” because it was kinda ghetto and rough but now it’s an awesome place.

Thanks- it is beautiful now, I can’t believe it was ever a scary place! I loved running there.
