Remodeled Kitchen

Taaa-da! It’s about a million times better than it was originally & I absolutely love it!   It was so difficult making the hundreds of decisions about which appliances or what shades of paint or what style for the backsplash, but it was all worth it in the end.

Having the island be almost 10′ long is wonderful- we enjoying hanging out there with company & eat our meals there now instead of at the table.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our beverage center!  It is convenient for guests & wonderful at keeping all our wine at the best, most tasty temperature.

The jury is still out on the cooktop.  I dearly miss the natural gas cooking in the old house & the ceramic glass flat top is so difficult to keep clean.  We didn’t really have many other options without installing a giant over head vent hood.

The dark brown stain on the cabinets came out better than I could have imagined & it made such a huge difference to the entire kitchen.

I was really nervous about the tile backsplash, but I’m so happy we decided to go with something more modern & colorful.

A few weeks after the rest of the kitchen was completed, our plantation shutters for the whole house arrived & I’m so glad we decided to go ahead with them.  The 7 foot windows just beg to let all the light inside.

I really struggled with the sink & argued with my granite lady about installing a Kohler cast iron sink.  I’d looked at all my alternatives & didn’t care for any of them.  This one is super-deep & has a split divide that is only partially up the heights of the sink.  So far it has been very useful, easy to clean & tough.  My only complaint so far is that I wish I’d ordered the one with the faucet inset into the basic instead of entirely out of it- you drop a lot of water onto the counter tops turning it on and off.

Just  a close-up of the glass tile backsplash & the under cabinet lighting.

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: I’m so thrilled with our kitchen & it’s such a great place to host parties.
