Part of what has kept me away from the blog the last few months is the new house- moving & remodeling is a full time job! I skipped our move & thought since I’m done moving blogs, now would be as good a time as any to blog about moving houses. We moved on Saturday March 20th, having only been home from New Zealand for less than 2 weeks. We closed on the new house the Friday we returned, worked all weekend & then moved a week after closing. We started out the morning very early by dropping the dogs off at mom’s house & then starting to move a few fragile things.
I’d literally been packing boxes for weeks & stacking them in our garage.
Being so busy with work & preparing for our big NZ trip, I eventually had to resort to bribing my brother & sister to help move the attic & shed stuff to the garage.

The movers showed up bright & early at 7AM. They were taking apart furniture, wrapping things, shuffling boxes in no time.

Goodbye little perfect house! We missed it so much after moving….

I imagine the movers were really good at Tetris when they were younger….

The BBQ pit, the ladder & the RAIN! It rained all morning…. The movers didn’t seem to mind & they plastic wrapped most of our stuff to protect it, so it didn’t get too wet.

We left our TV for the renters & it was a good excuse to “upgrade” like H had been wanting. The new TV was waiting for us…

Nothing actually got moved into the kitchen, as we were planning on starting remodeling on Monday. You can see my tile backsplash samples & our temporary fridge (where temporary equals 2 weeks!)

First Meal in the new house
H’s mom was kind enough to bring us a delicious feast for lunch….lunch at 2PM. Surprisingly, the 3 men movers had our entire house moved out of the old place & into the new one in just 6 hours!

The “lounge” as we jokingly call it, was the temporary storage for our entire kitchen & all the downstairs boxes to be unpacked.

Dining room wasn’t looking too bad if you don’t mind the hideous light fixture.

Master Bedroom the night of move-in
The bedroom was one of the things we painted the day after closing- we wanted to badly to at least have 1 room that was done.

My office after move-in
My office was a disaster for a few days until I could reassemble my desk & hook up all the fancy computer gear.

H's office on move-in day
All the extra upstairs boxes went into H’s room temporarily- um, until recently.

Guest room at move in day
The guest bedroom looked pretty decent by the end of the day, but still needed to be painted eventually & all the decorations hung on the walls.

And we brought the dogs to their new home & you can see they felt right at home!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Opps! Forgot to publish this…glad I found it!
