Kitchen Chaos

The demolition in the kitchen continued the first week- the granite tile counter top had to go, the stainless steel sink needed an update & I needed appliances from this century.

March 25th was a glorious day- the fridge arrived!  We lived a week out of our beverage cooler & on fast food.  Not even frozen dinners or use of a microwave…  All the other new appliances also showed up that day, but wouldn’t be installed for a few more weeks.  We started re-structuring our island- removing cabinets on the open side to make seating & plans to extend it a few more feet towards the breakfast area.  I was still sorting through tile samples- trying frantically to find the perfect one on time so I wouldn’t hold up the remodeling any longer than necessary.

The sheetrock on the backsplash was ripped out & the electrical for the under cabinet lights was run through the walls.

By the end of the first week, new decking had was laid on the countertops and the backsplash Sheetrock was replaced.  Please ignore one of my main food groups during the remodel…croutons & a glass of wine are a perfectly acceptable meal under such circumstances.

All the sheetrock in the living room ceiling and walls had also been replaced once the lighting and surround sound wiring were installed.  The sheetrock on the walls for the TV dialectical was repaired and ready to be floated & taped.  All in all, a very productive first week- even if I did discover that this will be our first, last and only remodeling project on a house- especially while we live there.  H wasn’t doing too good under such adverse conditions- and I mean no TV and no real food!

GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: Ran (almost) 13 miles on Friday the 13th….getting ready for the Philly marathon!
