Sit back & hold on tight! I’m about to show you lots of my favorite pictures from my all-time favorite day on our New Zealand trip! In Fox Glacier, we went with Fox Glacier Guides on a short heli-flight up to the glacier & then got to walk around on it. The weather was cooperative & I got some stunning shots.

Mt Cook from below Fox Glacier, New Zealand
We were finally able to see Mt. Cook from the west side, even though we couldn’t see it earlier in our trip when we were closer.

Mount Tasman is not too far from Mt. Cook and they are quite a stunning pair of peaks.

We were totally geeked out for this adventure- they provide hiking boots & special socks, plus ice spikes for walking.

Fox Glacier Guides Helicopter
Our group went up in 3 or 4 of these giant helicopters & the ride itself was well worth it.

Back to our one-way bridge from yesterday over Fox River.

Flying our way through the valley back up towards the face of the glacier.

We started climbing higher & higher…..

Finally made it to the face of Fox Glacier &

This picture gives a neat perspective of how it curves and twists through the valley around various areas of tougher rocks and peaks.

Once we were up above the glacier, the formations and patterns were strikingly beautiful.

I was totally in awe of Mother Nature flying over this work of art.

I really wasn’t seeing anywhere to go hiking down there!

So many great shots that this will have to be a 2 part post….come back tomorrow!
GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY: We are officially booked to stay here next July!

[...] was nice & we enjoyed leaving the door open for fresh air. Back towards that valley is where the heli-flight took off from & there are several smaller hotels/motels that would offer an actual view of the Fox Glacier [...]
